When sourcing silicon metal 441, buyers care about one thing above all – consistent chemistry. Not too high in iron. Not too high in aluminium or calcium. Just the right balance for melting into aluminium alloys, silicones, or refractory materials.
That is exactly what silicon metal 441 offers.
In the silicon metal industry, the numbers refer to the maximum impurity percentage of three key elements:
4 – Iron (Fe) ≤ 0.4%
4 – Aluminium (Al) ≤ 0.4%
1 – Calcium (Ca) ≤ 0.1%
This makes silicon metal 441 a mid-to-high purity grade – cleaner than 553 but not as expensive as 3303. It hits the sweet spot for many industrial applications.
Element | Content (%) |
|---|---|
Si | ≥ 98.5% |
Fe | ≤ 0.4% |
Al | ≤ 0.4% |
Ca | ≤ 0.1% |
Other trace elements (P, S, C) are tightly controlled, usually under 0.05% each. This level of purity ensures stable reactions in downstream processes.
Around 60% of silicon metal 441 goes into the aluminium industry. Why? Silicon improves fluidity, reduces shrinkage, and increases strength in cast aluminium parts – from automotive wheels to engine components.
The chemical industry uses this grade to produce silicone monomers, which then become:
Silicone oils
Sealants and adhesives
Lubricants and coatings
Silicon metal 441 acts as an antioxidant and bonding phase in refractory bricks and ceramic kiln furniture. It helps extend service life under high temperatures.
Though 441 is not the top choice for special steel grades, it still works well for general deoxidation where Al content needs to be limited.
Grade | Fe max | Al max | Ca max | Typical Purity | Price Level |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
553 | 0.5% | 0.5% | 0.3% | ~98.7% | Low |
441 | 0.4% | 0.4% | 0.1% | ≥98.5% | Medium |
3303 | 0.3% | 0.3% | 0.03% | ≥99.0% | High |
441 is the most balanced option when you need lower calcium than 553 but don't want to pay for 3303.
We supply silicon metal 441 in:
Lump (10–100 mm, or 20–150 mm as requested)
Granule (0–3 mm, 0–5 mm, 1–10 mm)
Powder (100 mesh, 200 mesh, 325 mesh)
Packaging: 1 MT jumbo bags, 25 kg woven bags, or custom.
Batch-to-batch consistency – every shipment comes with a third-party or mill test certificate.
Low Ca content – many aluminium smelters prefer ≤0.10% calcium to avoid slag issues.
Competitive pricing – direct from an established Chinese smelter with no middle layers.
